HUMOR for HUMOR'S SAKE

OK, so your favorite neighborhood socialite was having a bad morning today until a friend of mine put me on to a couple of spoofs that Affion Crockett did, both involving Lil Wayne. Now, to all you Lil Wayne fans out there, you're just gonna have to deal with this as I am in full agreement of what's going on here (and I know a whole lot of people who agree too). However, I've seen that some fans of Weezy F. Baby (what the hell!) are even laughing.

Nevertheless and without further ado, here they go. Feel free to make comments, and don't laugh to hard if you're at work, your co-workers may look at you like you're crazy...

in an ABSOLUT world

Now that I've recovered from my hangover due to spending too much time at Jessica Rosenblum's party on Wednesday (THANK YOU JESSICA FOR A GREAT TIME!!!) I bring you a blog that has to do with an alcohol sponsor (yeah, that makes sense!)

I'm sure you have all seen the BE KANYE commercials (online or really late on TV) or the ads (on the train). Well, here's part two of the installment...

COME {Mc}FLY WITH ME! [PART 2?!?]

Who woulda thunk it??? If I knew there would be a part 2 to this, I would have included everything in part 1, however, it seems like there's a certain level of high sensitivity here that needs to be looked at.

Now, I'd like to preface this by saying TO EACH THEIR OWN and obviously, people are entitled to their own opinions. BUT with the decrease of common sense in today's world, I do feel that I can drop my two cents on this particular situation. Didn't I just say everyone's entitled to their own opinion??? I mean this is America right??? But I digress...

In today's athletic world of sports, especially basketball what's going on in this ad is what EVERYONE waits to see, a spectacular play and someone always gets the bad end of the deal. Whether it's the theft of a homerun, a teeth clacking hit in football or someone getting banged on in basketball it's that type of play that gets you out of your seat and remains fodder for conversation for a couple of days with your friends. So when you have a company selling a product that boasts a lighter weight to jump higher to (hyper)dunk on people now they're being accused of being homophobic? When it happens in a real game (see the previous post at the bottom) is the dunker homophobic? How about the dunkee?

With the issues that are ACTUALLY out there concerning everybody, how much sense does it make to spend this much time on an ad that has to do with basketball? If you think this ad is homophobic where is YOUR head at? How about this... change the thinking of society and this would NOT be thought of as homophobic, it would be thought of as what it is, someone getting dunked on. Focus on actual hate crimes, bad economy, actual discrimination whether it's blatant or undercover instead of a game.

Make this world a better place, for you and me...

COME {Mc}FLY WITH ME!

News from the Swoosh:

The Hyperdunk, designed by Nike creative director Eric Avar, is one of the lightest and most innovative basketball footwear products Nike has ever produced. Debuting on the feet of Nike athlete Kobe Bryant on April 10th, the Hyperdunk will hit retail outlets in the US on July 27th.

While designing the Hyperdunk shoe, Avar took design inspiration from a Nike concept shoe created in the late 80’s for movie character Marty McFly [played by Michael J Fox] in the film Back to the Future II. Looking at the Hyperdunk’s overall shape, distinctive heel counter and midsole, these features all hearken back to this original concept shoe.

As part of the launch, Nike will introduce limited colorways leading up to the retail debut of the Hyperdunk. One of those limited products is the Hyperdunk 2015.

The Hyperdunk 2015 will continue this tribute to the original concept shoe by borrowing some of the iconic coloring that made the shoes so striking. The upper of the Hyperdunk 2015 features the same matte grey and white colors that appeared on the original. It also features the grey and teal speckled midsole that jumped off Marty McFly’s original footwear, as well as glow in the dark panels that give the shoe a futuristic feel.

Additionally the Hyperdunk 2015 will feature call outs to the film including graphics from McFly’s hover board on the sock liner and a few more subtle references for people to discover on their own.

Consumers will be able to find the Hyperdunk 2015 at Nike House of Hoops (in NYC) as well as Niketown and other select Nike retailers.

Here's the funny thing about the McFLYS --

The ad campaign... (give it a few seconds, it'll load and it's worth the wait!)

Nike's done it again... they've found a way to reach their audience with what they call the lightest basketball shoe EVER. And let's face it, the only reason we still watch basketball is to see people get banged on. Remember this?

and it's already the OFFICIAL show of the US Olympic basketball team, Kobe... (lol)

Yes, Kobe wears the McFlys.

let's see how the sales do...

GIRLS GONE WILD?!?!?!?

In case you've just landed on Earth a couple of minutes ago, I'm sure that you heard about the brawl that happened last night in sports. No, not in baseball. No, not any football players going crazy (or at least not any that we know of). But, YES, in the WNBA!

So, er, um... what do you say about this???

WEST-WARD Movements

A favorite of many, the savior of hip-hop (hey, Nas said it in COMPLEX Magazine, I'm just a reporter here) and Mr. Never Down on Himself, Kanye West is in the news again. Not to worry though, as he shows he humanitarian side working with Nike at the end of August. Of course he had to put his own spin on the message... or else it just wouldn't be 'Ye.

Here's what this is all about:

Music takes center stage on the heels of the official registration opening for the Nike+ Human Race, the world’s biggest one-day running event taking place on August 31, 2008. The race brings together the power of sport and music to inspire and connect runners from every corner of the planet. Participants in this unprecedented event will experience an exclusive music performance by some of today’s top artists in each of the 25 designated race cities. In Los Angeles, nine-time Grammy Award winning artist Kanye West will headline the run’s post race concert for the grand finale of the 25-city Nike+ Human Race. Runners will take to the streets passing the city’s most famous landmarks before ending at the LA Coliseum to see West take the stage.
